William Earl Fisher

William Earl Fisher, 73, originally from Cheyenne, Wyoming, passed away at home in Fredonia, Kansas on Tuesday September 22, 2026.

William was born on June 27, 1953, in Cheyenne, Wyoming, to Emerald James Fisher and Alice Louise (Bade) Fisher. He graduated from Cheyenne East High School in 1971 and went on to build a working life that included his retirement from the Wyoming Highway Department.

On March 11, 1972, he married Lana Jane Ross. Their marriage was a lasting and important part of his life, and she remained by his side in the home they shared.

William enjoyed working with his hands and spending time doing the things he loved. He was known for mechanic work and for repairing lawn mowers. He also showed horses and liked to fish.

He is survived by his wife, Lana Fisher of the home; his son, Shannon and Chris Fisher of Cheyenne, Wyoming; his grandson, Brandon James Fisher of Cheyenne, Wyoming; and his great-grandson, Waylon James Fisher. He is also survived by his brothers, Terry Lee Fisher of Greeley, Colorado, James E. Fisher of Aurora, Colorado, Howard Dale Fisher of Pueblo, Colorado, and Robert Wayne Fisher of Kansas City, Missouri.

He was preceded in death by his father, Emerald James Fisher; his mother, Alice Louise Fisher; and his sister, Carrie Nicwender.

William will be remembered with love by his family and by those who knew him through his work, his hobbies, and the steady life he built in the community where he was born and lived.

Cremation has taken place, with a private family burial at a later date.
