 William ‘Bill’ Joseph Bergman

William ‘Bill’ Joseph Bergman, age 83, passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 21, 2026, at Advena Living of Cherryvale.

Bill was born December 22, 1942, in Pond Creek, Oklahoma, the son of William and Ailleen Bergman. He attended Cherryvale High School graduating in 1961.

Bill was united in marriage to Bertha Lewis on February 14, 1969. Bertha passed away on June 15, 2014. Their home was known as the ‘Butterfly House’, in Cherryvale.

Cherished in memory by his devoted sister, Shirley Ross and his four nieces. Judy (Gil) Loucks, Mary (Scott) Foreman, Kathy (Wade) Webber and Linda (Steven) Strickland. They will forever treasure, each and every moment spent loving and caring for him. Uncle Bill will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Bill leaves behind the daughter he raised, Terri Kay Sumner, four grandchildren, Ashley, Damian, Dagon and Devin, and one great grandson Travian.

Uncle Bill had numerous nieces and nephews.

Bill was a man who loved to work with his hands. In his free time, he could be often found tending to his garden or working on various woodworking projects. Above all he loved to travel and spend time with family and friends. While traveling he would collect Budweiser memorabilia.

He was a passionate sports fan and a collector of team trading cards. Bill was a die-hard supporter of the Indianapolis Colts, Kansas City Chiefs and Chicago Cubs.

A Celebration of Life will be held 3:00 p.m. Saturday, February 28, 2026, at Wickham Family Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 216 East 4th, Cherryvale, Kansas 67335.

Interment will follow the service at Fairview Cemetery in Cherryvale.
