Willa Mae Findley, 87, of Fredonia, Kansa passed away on Monday, August 5, 2024, at Morningstar Care Home in Fredonia, Kansas.
She was born on September 9, 1936, in rural Fredonia, Kansas to Sylvia Mae (Sissom) Glover and Willard Lee Glover.
On March 6th, 1955, Willa Mae married her trusted partner for life, James "Jim" Robert Findley at the Church of the Brethren in Fredonia, Kansas with Willa’s Aunt and best friend, Ella Sissom Odell, and her husband, Jim Odell, as their witnesses.
Willa Mae attended Fredonia High School and later dedicated her life to caring for her family and creating a warm home. She found joy in simple pleasures; she loved to cook with her ham & beans being the best, experiment with new recipes, read, nurture her flowers and animals, and dance in her younger years.
Willa Mae is survived by her loving children: Patricia Abercrombie of Andover, Kansas; James F. Findley of Peabody, Kansas; Willard Findley of Fredonia, Kansas; Gina Odell of Fredonia, Kansas; Edward Kent Findley of Lenexa, Kansas; Christina Valentin of Fredonia, Kansas. She is also survived by her dear siblings: Susan Womack of Harper, Kansas; Rosemary Lane of Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Additionally left to cherish her memory are her sisters-in-law Mary Clinesmith of Chanute, Kansas; Shirley Becker of Emporia, Kansas; Jeannie Engstrom of Rogers, Arkansas. She was adored by her 21 grandchildren, 42 great-grandchildren, and 10 great-great-grandchildren along with numerous relatives and friends.
She was predeceased by her parents, husband James "Jim" Robert Findley, September 1, 2023, and brother-in-law, Jerry Max Findley.
A visitation will be held from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM Saturday, August 10, 2024, at Wickham Family Funeral Home, 510 North 7th, Fredonia, Kansas. Celebration of Life Services will follow the visitation at 2:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
Memorial remembrances are suggested to Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice and may be left or mailed to the funeral home.
Willa Mae Findley will be remembered for her love of family, dedication to creating a loving home environment for those she cherished dearly. Her legacy of kindness and warmth will live on in the hearts of all who had the pleasure of knowing her. May she rest in peace.
