Wanda Jean Timmons

Wanda Jean Timmons, 72, of Shawnee, Kansas (formerly of Fredonia, Kansas) passed away Saturday, April 22, 2023, at Menorah Medical Center in Overland Park, Kansas. She was surrounded by family when she lost her battle with cancer.

Wanda was born November 29, 1950, in Crosby, North Dakota, the daughter of Wilford Pritchett and Lois Cook (Hyde). She grew up in Fredonia and graduated from Fredonia High School in 1968.

On June 12, 1971, in Independence, Kansas, Wanda was united in marriage to William Joe Timmons, and he survives at the home.

Wanda enjoyed spending time with family and friends, flower gardening, springtime, reading, playing cards, watching crime shows, shopping, working crosswords, going out to eat and going to the beach. She will be remembered for being a loving wife, mom, grandma, and sister, for her sweet smile, infectious laughter, amazing hugs, and for her hospitality, clean house, and sense of style.

Wanda was a homemaker who also worked as a librarian with the Fredonia Library for 10 years. She later worked as a researcher for Fink Abstract and retired after 20 years.

Wanda was a member of numerous bridge clubs, Fredonia WMB, Sacred Heart Catholic Church, and the Fredonia Golf Club. Wanda gave in death, as she gave in life, by giving the gift of sight through corneal tissue donation.

Survivors include her husband Bill, her children, Rebecca Terry of Shawnee, Kansas, Jennifer Henderson of Lenexa, Kansas, Matthew Timmons of Olathe, Kansas, sisters, Joan Gariepy of Fredonia, Kansas, Mary Ann Linehan of Miltown, Wisconsin, grandchildren, Samantha Thomas, Jack Terry, Hayden, Hayleigh, Hayes Henderson, Cole, Nora, Quinn, Ava Timmons, and great grandchild, Avery Thomas.

She was preceded in death by her father, Wilford Pritchett, mother, Lois Cook and brother, Marty Jorgensen.

Celebration of Life Services will be held 2:30 P.M., Saturday, April 29, 2023, at Wickham Family Funeral Home, 510 North 7th, Fredonia, Kansas with Mike Jeffers, officiating.
