Theodore R. "Ted" Housel, 84, dedicated family man, passed away on Sunday December 28, 2025, in Cherryvale, Kansas

Ted was born on September 29, 1941, in Cherryvale the son of Theodore R. Housel Sr. and Pauline Morrison Housel.

Ted's journey began in the heart of Cherryvale, where he attended and graduated from Cherryvale High School in 1960. His early years laid the foundation for a career that spanned various industries, including Atlas Universal Cement Plant, Starcraft, Jocon Well Service, and Ted's Service. In addition to his professional endeavors, Ted also embraced the life of a rancher, reflecting his deep connection to the land and agriculture.

As a member of the National Guard, Ted embodied the spirit of service to his country, demonstrating dedication and patriotism throughout his life. Known for his warm personality, he brought joy to many through his humor and light-hearted jokes, often lifting the spirits of those around him.

Ted was an avid outdoorsman who found peace in fishing and hunting. He was a fan of the Kansas City Chiefs and enjoyed spending time baling hay and caring for his cattle. 

On July 11, 1964, in Cherryvale Kansas, Ted was united in marriage to Sonja Feugate, she survives at home.

He leaves behind his devoted wife, Sonja, of their home in Cherryvale, along with their children, Kirk Housel and Stephen (Michele) Housel, both of Cherryvale, Kansas, brother, Robert Housel of Cherryvale, Kansas. His legacy continues through his eight grandchildren: Drew Housel, Kylee (Justus) Towery, Kaden (Taylour) Housel, Shanele (Cameron) Edwards, Devin (Valerie) Windsor, Matt (Crystal) Wonser, John Anderson, and Dennon (Morgan) Windsor, as well as his fourteen great-grandchildren: Brylynn, Canaan, Titus, Hayslee, Blakely, Jemalee, Landon, Ava, Lily, Zak, Collin, Ella, Kolter, and Breklyn.

Ted was predeceased by his parents, Theodore and Pauline (Morrison) Housel, as well as his siblings Mike, Charles, and John Housel, Evelyn Fink, and Molly Parker.

A visitation in honor of Ted will be held on January 6, 2025, from 12:00 PM to 1:30 PM at the Wickham Family Funeral Home in Cherryvale, Kansas. Following this, a graveside service will take place at Fairview Cemetery starting at 2:00 PM.

Ted Housel will be deeply missed by all who knew him, and his memory will live on through the lives he touched with his kindness, humor, and unwavering love for his family.
