Sheryl Annette Wilson, 62, of Chanute, Kansas, passed away peacefully at her residence on December 6, 2025. She was born on February 19, 1963, in Iola, Kansas, to Edward Ross Wade and Marjalee (Brooks) Giefer. Later, she was adopted and raised by John Joseph Giefer and her mother.
Sheryl was a proud graduate of Humboldt High School, finishing her studies in May of 1982. She continued her pursuit of knowledge at Neosho County Community College, where she laid the foundation for a career as a secretary for the Screw Conveyor. She enjoyed working at Tri-Valley for many years and loved all of her residents immensely. Throughout her professional journey, Sheryl's gentle and caring demeanor made a lasting impression on those around her.
Sheryl was united in marriage to Ricky Wilson on November 10, 1990, in Miami, Oklahoma. Known for her vibrant personality, Sheryl radiated happiness and love; she was always focused on ensuring that everything and everyone in her life was taken care of. The love she had for her grandchildren was immeasurable. Her nurturing spirit extended beyond her family, as she embraced friendships with the same warmth and generosity.
Sheryl had a passion for discovering treasures, often spending weekends visiting garage sales and flea markets in search of bargains and delightful finds. These adventures were not only a testament to her keen eye for unique items but also a reflection of her enthusiastic approach to life.
Sheryl is survived by her husband, Ricky Wilson, and her children: Matthew Sanchez (Miranda Reeves) of Chanute, KS; Savannah Bingham (Brandon Bingham) of Chanute, KS; Carmen Douglas of Chanute, KS; and Amanda Wilson of Hays, KS.
She took great joy in her role as a grandmother to Mathis, Keyton, and Cadance of Rogers, AR; Cavin, Kimber and Camden Cation, and Emily, Siena and Avery Bingham of Chanute, KS; Kamira Casper; Mylah Sanchez of Chanute, KS; Autumn and Mariah Heath and Mattison Sanchez of Festus, MO, Nora Megenity of Humboldt, KS, Colten Reeves of Iola, KS Justice Heffner, Salina, KS and Quinton Heffner of Pittsburg, KS and Great Grandson Malachi Sanchez of Rogers, AR; and Wyatt, Annabelle and Dean Wilson of Hays, KS.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her beloved daughter, Angela Sanchez, as well as her grandparents, Leroy and Martha Wrestler. Her brothers will lovingly hold Sheryl’s memory, Dennis Wade of Victoria, TX, and Randy (Sue) Wade of Grants Pass, Oregon, who remember her fondly as a loving sister.
A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, December 18, 2025, at 10:30 a.m. At Wickham Family Funeral Home, 500 North Forest Ave, Chanute, Kansas 66720, with burial to follow at Mt. Hope Cemetery, Humboldt, Kansas.
