Scott Dwayne Newton

Scott Dwayne Newton, 61, of Chanute, Kansas, passed away on July 25, 2026, with his family by his side. He was born on April 16, 1965, to John Paul Newton and Betty Joan (Hamilton) Newton in Chanute.

Scott graduated from Chanute Senior High School in 1983 and went on to build a career as a Foreman at Miller Pipeline, where his dedication and commitment to his work earned him respect among colleagues and friends alike. His leadership and work ethic were evident to all who had the pleasure of working alongside him.

Scott was united in marriage to Kelly Newton, later divorced, but remained best friends.

A man of many interests, Scott’s zest for life was expressed most clearly in the things he loved: hunting, fishing, and spending time outdoors. He had an undeniable appreciation for trucks, fast cars, and motorcycles, interests that reflected his adventurous spirit and appreciation for excitement. Scott was also known for his fondness for loud music, which often set the soundtrack to memorable gatherings with friends and family.

He cherished moments spent at the casino, found great joy in celebrations like the Fourth of July, and relished being a free spirit, embracing life with authenticity and independence. Scott enjoyed watching LSU football as well as the New Orleans Saints. Above all, Scott treasured time with family and friends, creating lasting memories through shared laughter and companionship.

Scott’s family was at the heart of his life. He leaves behind his beloved daughter, Alexia Ulrich; his son, Alex Newton; and his grandchildren, Titan Dalton, Urijah Ulrich, Baine Ulrich, and Cayde Ulrich. His siblings, Kathryn "Joyce" Graham, Terry Lynn Newton, and Connie Joan Combs survive him as well, carrying forward his memory with affection and pride.

He is reunited with his sisters, Gloria "Jean" Barriger and Patricia Ann Arthur, and with John Paul Newton Jr. "Red," whose memories remain precious to all who knew and loved them.

A unique blend of hard work, spirited adventure, and genuine devotion to family and friends defined Scott Dwayne Newton’s life. His legacy will live on in the hearts of all who were privileged to share in his journey.

Memorials are suggested to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or the Wichita Cancer Center and can be left with or mailed to Wickham Funeral Home.

A visitation will be held Friday, July 31, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Wickham Family Funeral Home, 500 North Forest Avenue, Chanute, Kansas, followed by a Celebration of Life Funeral Service beginning at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home.

Interment will take place at Memorial Park Cemetery following the funeral service.
