Royce E. Mustain, 73, of Cherryvale, Kansas passed away Monday, December 6, 2021, at his home with family by his side.
Royce Eugene Mustain was born September 4, 1948, in Neodesha, Kansas the son of Otis Wayne Mustain and Anna Grace (Failor) Mustain. He grew up in Salida, Colorado and graduated from Salida High School in 1966.
After high school he served his country with the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He was honorably discharged and received the Purple Heart Medal and Bronze Star Medal.
On February 24, 2006, in Cherryvale he was united in marriage to Kathy L. Peyton, and she survives at the home.
Royce enjoyed all sporting activities. Along with his wife Kathy they received the honor of being the 2019 Cherryvale Charger Fans of the Year.
He was known through out Cherryvale for his painting of ceramic Christmas ornaments. Many former and present Cherryvale students received one from Royce.
Royce worked for Street Department for the City of Salida, Colorado for 19 years. He later was employed by Prestige Cabinets in Neodesha, Kansas and later at Grandview Products in Cherryvale when he retired.
He was also a volunteer with the Cherryvale Food Bank.
Royce was a member of the Cherryvale Booster Club and Lifetime Member of the American Legion.
Survivors include his wife Kathy of the home, siblings, Olen Wayne Mustain and Cheryl Walker both of Salida, Colorado. Also surviving include a host of extended family and friends.
The family will greet friends from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. Tuesday, December 14, 2021, at Wickham Family Funeral Home, 216 East 4th, Cherryvale, Kansas.
Celebration of Royce's Life will be held 4:00 P.M., Wednesday, December 15, 2021at the Cherryvale Charger Football Field in Cherryvale. Military honors will be provided by the Kansas Army National Guard and Independence American Legion/VFW.
Cremation will follow the services.
Memorial remembrances are suggested to Cherryvale HS Athletics, Cherryvale Food Bank or Vietnam Landclearers Association (VLCA) and they may be left or mailed to the funeral home
