Roy Keith Sage 90 of Independence, Kansas passed away at home on Sunday, September 18, 2022.
Roy is survived by his wife Linda, 5 children, 7 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his parents Carl and Nancy Sage of Independence, Kansas and by his brother Herbert Sage of Grand Junction, Colorado and his sister Doris Gosnell Droegemueller of Independence, Kansas.
Roy proudly served in the Army during the Korean war. After returning home he married Frankie Weaver (deceased) and they had 5 children. Kris Esser of Libby, Montana; Penny Sage (m. Joe Kring) of Yakima, Washington; Carla Bays of Independence, Kansas; John Sage of Gresham, Oregon; Laura Sage of Tulsa, Oklahoma.
During their life together Roy and Linda enjoyed being active members of the community. Many will recall Roy’s involvement in playing and umpiring softball and playing in the pool leagues. They were also long-time members of the VFW. Notably, Roy and Linda achieved their long-held dream of RV travel throughout the US and Canada. During their years on the road they liked meeting new friends in new places. The call to home in southeast Kansas prevailed and Roy and Linda have loved their time here since their return. Roy was never more content than when he was outdoors hunting or fishing.
Cremation has taken place. Graveside services with military rites will be held 10:30 A.M., Monday, September 26, 2022 at Mount Hope Cemetery in Independence, Kansas.
Memorial remembrances are suggested to Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice, St. Judes Children Hospital or AWOL and they may be left or mailed to Wickham Family Funeral Home, 216 East 4th, Cherryvale, Kansas 67335.
