Robert Barry Staton, passed away on Sunday, February 11, 2024, at Mercy Hospital in Joplin, Missouri. 

He was born on October 27, 1951, in Independence, Kansas to Robert Christy Staton and Mary Alice (Maher) Staton.

On October 25, 1975 at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Cherryvale, Kansas he was united in marriage to Carol Ann Benning and she survives at the home.

Barry's career spanned from October 26, 1976, until his retirement in 2011 as a trackman with Union Pacific Railroad. He displayed unwavering commitment and professionalism throughout his time with the company.

 He graduated from Cherryvale High School in 1969 and Coffeyville Community College in 1971. Additionally, he attended Pittsburg State University.

Outside of work, Barry had a wide range of hobbies and interests that brought him joy and relaxation. He enjoyed deer hunting, working on the farm, baling hay, and mowing yards. Classic rock music was always close to his heart. Barry was also an avid shareholder with the Green Bay Packers and watching Notre Dame athletics. When it came to movies, he found immense pleasure in watching John Wayne classics as well as the Harry Potter series.

Barry leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories for his surviving family members including his beloved wife Carol Staton of Cherryvale, Kansas. He also leaves behind two sons Mark Edward Staton and David Anthony Staton who both reside in Cherryvale, Kansas.

Barry's family is supported by his two brothers Scott Staton of Liberty, Kansas, and Tim (Tracy) Staton of Raymore, Missouri, sister-in-law, Mariam Staton of Caney, Kansas and brother-in-law, David (Rexanne) Benning of Liberty, Kansas. 

Preceding him in death is Barry's parents and brother Daniel Staton.

Services celebrating the life of Robert Barry Staton will be held as follows:

- Visitation on February 15, 2024, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Wickham Family Funeral Home - Cherryvale located at 216 E 4th St, Cherryvale, KS 67335.

- A Rosary Service will follow the visitation on February 15, 2024, at 7:00 PM at the same location.

- The final tribute will take place on February 16, 2024, with a Mass at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church located at 202 South Liberty Street, Cherryvale, KS 67335. The Mass will commence at 10:00 AM.

- Burial will follow mass at All Saints Cemetery rural Liberty, Kansas.

Memorial remembrances are suggested to the Cherryvale Knights of Columbus or Cherryvale Historical Museum.

Barry Staton touched countless lives throughout his journey and will always be remembered for his unwavering dedication to his profession and love for his family. He will be greatly missed by all those who had the privilege of knowing him.
