Robert L. Smith, fondly known as "Bob," entered this world on May 30, 1940, in Liberty, Kansas, to William and Wilma (Holland) Smith. Bob passed away at home on Monday January 19, 2026.

He attended Coffeyville and Labette County Schools. His professional journey included significant contributions at Ted’s Service, the City of Cherryvale, and Chase Drilling in Chanute, Kansas. 

On June 13, 1969, in Claremore Oklahoma, Bob was united in marriage to Alene Davis, she survives at their home.

Bob cherished the simple pleasures of life. He found joy in motorcycle riding and fishing, often taking delight in joy rides around the countryside. These activities not only brought him happiness but also served as a means of connecting with nature and the world around him. Bob was a member of the Cherryvale Nazerene Church.

Bob leaves behind a loving family, including his devoted wife, Alene, who shared their life's journey at their home. He is survived by his sons, Brad Smith of Fort Worth, Texas, and Doug Smith of Cherryvale, Kansas. He also embraced his stepchildren: Brenda Howard of Liberty, Missouri, Danny Krunze, Lori Krunze, and Julie Drake, all of Cherryvale, Kansas. His legacy continues through his brother, Charles Smith of Cherryvale, Kansas, as well as his 14 grandchildren, many great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren, all of whom were a source of great pride and joy for him.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents, William and Wilma (Holland) Smith, his sister Tina Holman, and his brothers Douglas and Jimmy Smith. Their memories will remain in the hearts of those he leaves behind.

Cremation has taken place under the guidance and personal care of Wickham Family Funeral Home & Cremation Service of Cherryvale.
