Richard Froebe

Rick Froebe lived a life defined not only by hard work and accomplishment, but by humor, generosity, and the quiet way he lifted up the people around him.

Rick was raised in Cherryvale, Kansas, where he developed the strong values and work ethic that would guide him throughout his life. Even as a young man, those who knew him could see his drive and perspective on life—a belief that success comes from showing up, putting in the work, and striving to do your best.

After graduating from Kansas State University, Rick made his way to Dallas, Texas, where he met the love of his life, Monica. Together they built a life filled with laughter, family, and shared dreams while raising their daughters, Alex and Morgan. Rick was a proud father who believed deeply in supporting and encouraging his family.

Professionally, Rick built a respected career as an Architectural Engineer in the commercial air-conditioning industry. Over the years he experienced the business from every side—consultant design, ownership, and sales of major systems. His deep knowledge of the field and steady professionalism earned the trust of colleagues and clients alike. But more than titles or deals, Rick valued relationships and the opportunity to solve problems and help others succeed.

In retirement, Rick and Monica followed their dream to Neptune Beach, Florida, where they created a home and life near the ocean they loved. Rick quickly became an essential and beloved presence at Atlantic Beach Country Club. Golf had long been one of his passions, and he played the game with both skill and joy, celebrating five memorable holes-in-one over the years. His involvement went far beyond the fairways. Drawing on his professional experience, he contributed to club improvements, renovations, member growth, and tournaments—quietly helping shape a community that meant so much to him.

Rick’s hobbies told their own story about the kind of man he was. He loved playing golf, riding motorcycles, cheering on the Kansas State Wildcats, traveling the world with his wife and family, and attending concerts where he especially appreciated a great guitar solo. Those who knew him best will also remember his dry sense of humor and the way he could always make Monica laugh. He was, without question, the undisputed king of dad jokes.

Rick was incredibly proud of his family. He is survived by his wife, Monica Froebe; his daughters, Alex Woodward and partner Chy Pardue, and Morgan Israel and her husband, Aaron Israel; his grandchildren, Declan Woodward, Rhys Woodward, and Sloan Israel; his brother, Rod Froebe and sister-in-law Jammy Froebe; his nephew Mason Froebe and niece Riley Anderson; his stepsister Edie Wells; and his mother-in-law, Loretta German, lovingly known as “Mimi.”

Rick passed peacefully at home beside Monica, watching the sun rise over the Atlantic from the house they lovingly renovated together—the dream they built side by side. It was a moment that perfectly reflected the life he lived: simple, meaningful, and shared with the person he loved most.

Rick touched countless lives through his kindness, humor, and willingness to help wherever he was needed. His impact can be felt in the communities he was part of, the friendships he built, and the family he loved so deeply.

Years ago, as a young graduate, Rick shared a simple idea that stayed with him throughout his life: that there are spectators, there are participants, and there are athletes—the ones who work for everything they achieve. His encouragement then remains fitting now.

Rick would want us all to remember that same message:

Be an athlete in life.

A memorial service will be held at Atlantic Beach Country Club on May 3, 2026.
