Richard Lane Franklin

Richard Lane Franklin was born on June 7, 1958 in Fredonia, Kansas to parents Orval Eugene Franklin and Mary Louella Fiscus Sale. He shared 4 other siblings, Randy Eugene, Mary Beth, Robert Lee and Michael David. 

Richard started school at Ben Paulen, but eventually left school in the 8th grade. During his childhood years, Richard lost his father and his brother, Robert Lee. 

As an adult, Richard moved to California where he later met his wife Blanca and married her in March of 1997. Two years later, Stephanie Sue Lynn was born into their lives. Richard was a loving father to Stephanie, and often referred to her as his princess, as she was his pride and joy. Stephanie remembers him for his love of Star Wars movies, memories of fishing as a child, his funny jokes, and his love for Jesus Christ. In 2020, Richard moved back home with his mother after the passing of his brother Randy in 2019. 

During the last years of his life, Richard enjoyed watching football, gardening, fishing, spending time with his mother, and taking care of their shared cats. Richard passed away on October 14, 2025, at Providence Medical Center in Kansas City, Kansas. 

Richard is survived by his wife Blanca, daughter Stephanie, mother Mary and his two siblings Mary Beth and Michael.

Cremation has taken place, and Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday November 15, 2025, at 2:00 PM, at the Fredonia City Cemetery.
