Chanute, Kansas

Patsy Louise (Picht) Giacoma, 93, of Chanute, Kansas, passed away at her home on October 3, 2026, with her daughters near. She was born on April 13, 1933, in Fort Scott, Kansas, to Dan and Albertena (Mitzner) Picht.

Growing up, Patsy attended Fort Scott schools and graduated high school in the class of 1951.She was united in marriage to Joe Giacoma Jr. on November 14, 1953, in Colorado Springs, CO. He preceded her in death in 2019.

Patsy loved her family deeply; she always made sure things were tidy and in their place. You could always count on her to have three hot meals daily ready for her family, and made sure her girls experienced the best of holidays and parties. She also made sure all their activities were special in ways only Mom could make happen.

Patsy’s family was a great source of joy in her life. She is survived by her daughters, Teresa and Mike Dawes, Jennie and Joe Hasty, Angie and Reggie Bollinger, and Tina Austin. She also leaves behind her grandchildren, Lacey Dawes; Katie Dawes and Andy; Becky and John Clements; Beth and Kaleb Terlip; Julie and Brett Luttrell; Vandy Hasty; Holly and Trenton Ebersole; Emma and Will Adler; Lance Austin; and Ally and Matt Bollinger. Her legacy continues as well in her great-grandchildren, Ty, Trent, and Reese Clements; Kylar, Kal, Bristol, Brinkley, and Quin Terlip; Owen, Joe, and Jake Luttrell; Demi Green; Reo and Remi Ebersole; and Rome and Banks Adler. Surrounded by so many generations of family, Patsy leaves behind a circle of loved ones who will continue to cherish her memory and the kindness she shared with them all.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Joe Giacoma Jr.; her daughter, Peggy Smith; sons-in-law, Mike Smith and Marty Pannell; granddaughter Amanda Hasty and her siblings, Earl Picht, Louis Picht, and Betty Pinckney.

Patsy will be remembered for the love she gave so freely and for the values she held close throughout her life. Those who knew her carry forward the example she set: to make an effort to love one another, to give without being asked, and to pay kindness forward. She had a heart of gold, and that spirit of generosity and care remains a lasting part of her legacy.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks us to pay it forward in some way; even the smallest acts of kindness have a lasting impact.

There will be a private service for Patsy at a later date. Services are under the personal care of Wickham Family Funeral Home 500 North Forest Ave. Chanute, Kansas.
