Patricia Ann Martin, a beloved mother, grandmother, Sister, and devoted friend, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 2, 2024, at the Wesley Medical Center in Wichita, Kansas, just shy of her 81st birthday. Born Patricia Ann Schuster on October 4, 1943, she was the cherished daughter of Fred and Anna (Ayers) Schuster, who welcomed her into the world in Kansas City, Kansas.
Patricia was a proud graduate of Derby High School, having completed her education in the class of 1961. Following her graduation, she married Gary Martin and they moved to China Lake California where he would be stationed in the United States Navy. While in California, they welcomed 2 daughters and upon returning home to Wichita, they completed their family by welcoming 2 sons. In 1970 they moved to Fredonia, Kansas where she would embark on a fulfilling career at Automotive Controls/DANA in Independence, Kansas dedicating many years to her profession before retiring in 2003.
Throughout her life, Patricia found joy in a variety of hobbies and interests. Number one being following her children all over Southeast Kansas supporting them in their many sports and activities. She cherished her time spent with friends over coffee at Parkview, where laughter and camaraderie were plentiful. Additionally, she expressed her creativity through quilting and gardening. She also enjoyed playing cards and dominoes at the Fredonia Senior Center, and delighted in, cooking, and baking—often wowing her family with her famous breakfast burritos and taco salad.
Patricia is survived by her loving family, including her daughters, Terri Ruland and her husband Chuck of Wichita, Kansas, Shari Martin and Tom of Kansas City, Missouri; her sons, David Martin and his wife Terisa of Fredonia, Kansas and Troy Martin and his wife Paige of Austin, Texas, sister, Beverly Morabito from Mulvane, Kansas Patricia was also a proud grandmother to 15 grandchildren, a great-grandmother to 14 great-grandchildren, and a great-great-grandmother to one great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her beloved husband, Gary Martin Sr., as well as her granddaughter, Christina Kilgore.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, October 26, 2024, from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM, followed by a funeral service beginning at 3:00 PM, both taking place at Cornerstone Christian Church, 1005 Golf Course Road in Fredonia, Kansas.
Memorial remembrances are suggested to the Fredonia Senior Citizens Center, or the Fredonia Regional Hospital Auxiliary and they may be left or mailed to Wickham Family Funeral Home, 510 North 7th, Fredonia, Kansas 66736
Patricia Ann Martin leaves behind a legacy of love, warmth, and cherished memories that will continue to resonate with all who were fortunate enough to know her. Her spirit will live on in the hearts of her family and friends, forever missed and fondly remembered.
