Norma Treva (Foust) Morris

Norma Treva (Foust) Morris, 98, of Thayer, Kansas, passed away on January 28, 2026, at the Neosho Memorial Regional Medical Center in Chanute, Kansas. She was born on May 24, 1927, in Mountain View, Oklahoma, to Dennis “Jack” and Dorothy (Sherrock) Foust.

She was a graduate of Cowden High School in Oklahoma, in the class of 1945. She was united in marriage to James Alvin Morris in May of 1945 in Oklahoma.

Norma led a life that beautifully blended her roles as a housewife and a Church and community contributor. Beyond caring for her beloved children, she was a familiar face as the driver of the family’s station wagon, which served as the school bus for Earlton Elementary School. Her passion for cooking was evident through her time as a cook at Hidden Haven Christian Camp in Thayer, Kansas, and the high prices her homemade cinnamon rolls brought at the Thayer Homecoming Booster Club auction. Norma found joy in simple pleasures, engaging in cooking for others, quilting, and relishing moments spent over coffee with friends at the Sunshine Diner. Her garden flourished with beautiful Iris flowers, which she generously shared with others, spreading beauty and joy to all who encountered her vibrant blooms. She was also known for her delightful sense of humor, often teased by her family about her wonderful sense of "RUMOR," which brought laughter and light to her household.

Norma is survived by her children: Sandra Jean Shields of Joplin, MO, Roger Keith Morris of Euless, TX, and Jo Lynette Smith of Dearing, KS. She also leaves behind a proud lineage, including nine grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren, and six great-great-grandchildren, all of whom carry forward her spirit and warmth.

She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, James Alvin, her son Don Mark, her parents, and six siblings.

Norma Morris will be remembered not only for her nurturing nature and service to others but also for the love she fostered within her family and the neighborhood, creating a rich tapestry of connections that will endure through generations.

Memorials are suggested to Hidden Haven Christian Camp through the Thayer Christian Church and can be left with or mailed to the funeral home.

A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, the 14th day of February 2026, Visitation at 10:00 am, Service at 11:00 am, at Thayer Christian Church, 8495 Dorn Rd, Thayer, Kansas 66776.

Burial will take place at a later date at Harrison Chapel Cemetery, Thayer, Kansas.
