MAURITA JOAN SPOHN Maurita J. Spohn, 82, of Fredonia, Kansas passed away Tuesday, September 13, 2016 at Reflection Living Adult Care in Wichita, Kansas. Maurita Joan Spohn was born December 4, 1933 in Yates Center, Kansas the daughter of A.W. Bus Opperman and Mildred (Light) Opperman. She grew up in Texas, Yates Center and Fredonia. She graduated from Fredonia High School in 1951. On April 14, 1951 in Fredonia, Kansas she was united in marriage to Charles Russel Spohn and he preceded her in death December 30, 2011. Maurita worked in her earlier years for the telephone company in Fredonia. In her later years she worked as a housewife and homemaker. She loved to play golf, travel and be with her many friends. She will be remembered for being a great mother, grandmother, sister and loving her family. Maurita was a member of the Methodist Church and Fredonia Golf Club. Survivors include, two sons, Richard Spohn and his wife Tami of Fredonia, Kansas, Roger Spohn and his wife Dava of Baldwin City, Kansas, sister, Marcia Parsons of Fredonia, Kansas, two grandchildren, Jessica Wade and her husband David of Wichita, Kansas, Ryan Spohn and his wife Lacey of Fredonia, Kansas, three great grandchildren, Toryn, Vaylin and Kacyn Spohn of Fredonia, Kansas. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband. Graveside services will be held 2:00 P.M., Friday, September 16, 2016 at Fredonia City Cemetery with Gene Benefiel, officiating. Friends may sign the register book from 12Noon until 7:00 P.M. Thursday, September 15, 2016 with the family receiving friends from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M. at Wickham Family Funeral Home, 510 N. 7th Street, Fredonia, Kansas. Memorial remembrances are suggested to the Alzheimer"s Association and they me be left at or mailed to the funeral home.
