Mary Lou (Rehder) Hollis, 92, of Chanute, Kansas, passed away at Heritage Health Care on Friday, September 5, 2025.
On October 10, 1932, in Rapid City, South Dakota, she was born to Henry Rehder and Edith (Bender) Garcia. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother whose warmth and creativity touched the lives of many.
Mary was united in marriage to James Hollis on April 3, 1955. He preceded her in death in 2005.
Throughout her life, Mary was known not only for her kind spirit but also for her incredible talent as a seamstress. Her hands lovingly crafted wedding dresses, dollies, blankets, and an array of other beautiful items, making her creations cherished by family and friends alike. Knitting was more than just a hobby for Mary; it was a way for her to express her love and care through handmade gifts that would become treasured memories for generations to come.
Mary is survived by her daughter, Judy (Jim) Keenan, of Chanute, Kansas, who carries on her legacy of love and creativity. Her legacy continues with her grandchildren: Steffan Gray, Tyler (Joy) Gray, Molly (Luke Hagadorn) Keenan, Amanda (Tyson) Reimer, Anthony (Serena) Keenan, and Matthew Keenan. The joy she brought to her family is further reflected in the laughter and love of her great-grandchildren: Brooksley Hagadorn, Delilah Hagadorn, Presley Holmes, Ryland Reimer, Henry Keenan-Hagadorn, and Riley Reimer.
Mary's life, woven with rich memories and heartfelt connections, was marked by her devotion to family, her artistic spirit, and her unwavering love.
Preceding her in death were her husband, James Hollis, and her daughter, Leann Hollis.
Memorials are suggested to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation and can be left with or mailed to the Wickham Family Funeral Home, 500 North Forest Ave. Chanute, Kansas 66720.
Cremation has been requested with burial at Janesville Cemetery in Hamilton, Kansas.
