Linda L. Dodson

Linda L. Dodson, 82, of Benedict, Kansas passed away Tuesday, November 21, 2023 at her home with family at her side.

Linda L. Dodson was born to Opal Irene Lawrence and Leland Kingsbury Sr. in Neodesha, Kansas on February 22, 1941.

Linda married Jackie Ray Joy Jr. in Independence, Kansas, November 15, 1958. They later divorced December of 1973.

She married Ronnie Dodson on July 12, 1978. He passed March 18, 1979.

Jackie and Linda had 2 children, Leland Ray Joy (passed) and Kathy (Katie) Bowen (Kevin) of LeRoy, Kansas. She also raised Kathy Sue Watts (Johnny) of Mobile, Alabama as a second daughter.

From her marriage to Ronnie, she had 1 stepdaughter – Brenda Lee (Dodson) Healey.

Grandchildren: Jerry Lee Jr. & Kim Dodson of Ft. Moore, GA, Mitchell Wayne Dodson of Benedict, KS, Katrina & Les Jay of Elk City, KS, Amanda Nicole & Aaron Cookus of LeRoy, KS), Scott Tyler Dodson of Eldorado, KS, Jim & Lilly Hamilton of Oklahoma, James & Nita Hamilton of Illinois.

Great grandchildren: Kyley Cole & Kaitlyn Dodson (Kim & Jerry); Dakota, Remingtyn, Easton, and Brantlee Cookus (Amanda & Aaron); Tyler & Tara Dodson (Scott), Rhiannon, Ember, Ewan, Killian (Katrina); Shelby Coots, Kayla Hester, Khila and Corbin DesJardin (Mitch); Christopher and Kyaira (Jim); Jazmine and Jessica (James)

Linda worked for Custom Electronics, Quail Creek Toppers, Birdview Satellite, and Emerson Electric, and was a CNA at Beverly Health & Rehab.

Linda enjoyed gardening and working in the yard, bird-watching, reading her bible, working on her puzzle books, listening to music, and cooking for others.

Above everything, Linda loved her kids/grandkids! They were her reason for living. She found joy in spending time with her loved ones and looking at family photos.

Linda was known for sharing stories, her homemade chicken and noodles, and cinnamon rolls. She was not afraid to tell it as it is and is lovingly known by her kids for her “Granny-isms”.

She was extremely hardworking and one of the most selfless individuals to walk on this Earth.

Linda is preceded in death by her parents Lee and Irene Kingsbury, 7 sisters, 4 brothers, her ex-husband Jack Joy Jr., and husband Ronnie Dodson. Her son, Lee, also preceded her in death.

Celebration of Life Services will be held 2:30 P.M., Saturday, November 25, 2023 at Wickham Family Funeral Home, 510 North 7th Street, Fredonia, Kansas.
