Leland B. Sissom, 77, a lifetime resident Fredonia, Kansas, died Wednesday, July 19, 2006 at his home. He was born March 18, 1929 in rural Fredonia, the son of Kent and Kate (Shandrow)Sissom. He was a corporal in the United States Army 1951-1953. He was a self-employed construction worker and farmer. On March 30, 1963 in Newkirk, Oklahoma, he married Wilma F. Johnson. She preceded him in death March 11, 1998. His survivors include Four step-children Bonnie Smith of Haysville, KS Montie Womack of Harper, KS Marvin Womack of Virginia Beach, VA Jerry Womack of Wichita, KS One sister Ella Odell of Fredonia, KS Two brothers Kent Sissom of Fredonia, KS Keith Sissom of Republic, MI 9 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Monday, July 24, 2006, at Timmons Funeral Home Chapel with Carl Thornton officiating. Private inurnment will be in the Weakley Cemetery near New Albany, Kansas. Memorials have been established in his name with the Old Iron Club and the Avenue of Flags and may be sent to the funeral home.
