Lawrence “Butch” H. Cox, 78, of Fredonia, Kansas passed away Tuesday morning, January 3, 2023 at Neodesha Care and Rehab in Neodesha, Kansas.
Lawrence Henry Cox was born May 23, 1944 in Wellington, Kansas the son of Lawrence G. Cox and Colleene (Gasper) Cox. He grew up in Fredonia and graduated from Fredonia High School in 1962. He later attended Pittsburg State University in Pittsburg, Kansas and received his degree in Auto Mechanics.
On May 23, 1964, in Girard, Kansas he was united in marriage to Sandra Clary and she survives at the home.
Butch enjoyed, hunting, water skiing and working on lawnmowers, especially Cub Cadets.
He served with the United States Army National Guard.
Butch worked at the Cox 66 Service Station in Fredonia for many years and later farmed.
He was a member of the Old Iron Club.
Survivors include his wife Sandy of the home, son, Jeff Cox (Jennifer) of Fredonia, Kansas, daughter in law, Sandy Cox of Fredonia, Kansas, 3 grandchildren, Austin Farmer, Tori Livermore, Thatcher Cox, 2 great grandchildren, Baylor K. Livermore and Tiegann Farmer.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Joe Cox. Three days after his passing his son, Jon Cox passed away.
Cremation has taken place with graveside services being held 2:00 P.M., Saturday, January 14, 2023 at Fredonia City Cemetery.
Memorial remembrances are suggested to the Old Iron Club and they may be left or mailed to Wickham Family Funeral Home, 510 North 7th, Fredonia, Kansas 66736.
