Kevin Dwayne Estes, a devoted family man and respected professional, passed away at home on Sunday June 7, 2026. Born on August 29, 1962, in Independence, Kansas, Kevin lived a full and vibrant life, marked by his commitment to craft, family, and the joys found in simple pleasures.

Kevin’s journey began; he attended Cherryvale Schools before pursuing further education at Tulsa Vocational College. Balancing work and study, he honed his skills while employed at Murphy Electric. His career as an electrician was distinguished and lifelong, spanning roles at Dixon Industries, Harp Electric, and Murphy Electric Inc. More than a craftsman, Kevin established himself as a trusted general contractor through his own venture, Kevin Estes Construction Inc., where he demonstrated his expertise and leadership.

Known for living life to the fullest, Kevin embraced his passions with enthusiasm. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, activities that connected him deeply to nature. His love for riding motorcycles provided him with freedom and adventure and had a knack for fixing things.

Kevin is survived by his loving mother, Virginia Housel of Independence, Kansas, and his cherished sons, Clinton Estes of Los Angeles, California, and Jared Estes of Cherryvale, Kansas. He was a proud grandfather to seven grandchildren—Dylan, Owen, Lauren, Kynlie, Blair, Brylee Estes, and Kierdan Holcomb—who brought joy and light to his later years. Kevin’s siblings, Jeff Winkleman of Springfield, Missouri, and Melissa Thornton of Fredonia, Kansas, also carry forward his memory, alongside Jeff’s wife Dorothy and Melissa’s husband Gary.

Preceding Kevin in death was his father, Obbie Estes; his brother, Harold Winkleman; and grandparents Helen Jewett, Olin Estes, and Marie Estes. Their memories remain treasured by the family and those who knew Kevin.
