June Marie Miller, 66, a longtime resident of New Albany, Kansas, died Tuesday, February 24, 2015 at her home. She was born July 3, 1948 in New Albany, the daughter of William C. and Eva M. (Harris) Millar. June attended school in New Albany and Fredonia High School, graduating in 1966. On December 14, 1972 in Neodesha, June was united in marriage to Richard Miller. He survives at their home. June worked as an aide at St. Margaret"s Mercy Hospital for a few years, but she was most proud of being a homemaker and rancher"s wife. She was a member of the New Albany United Methodist Church, Wilson County Saddle Club, and the American Quarter Horse Association. She had also been active on the New Albany City Council. In her younger years, she was a member of the Busy Beavers 4-H Club and was proud to have barrel raced at the Kansas State Fair. June"s hobbies included oil painting and reading. She loved the outdoors, riding the 4-wheeler, feeding cattle and spending time with her grandchildren. June was an animal lover, especially her horses. In addition to her husband, Richard, she is survived by: Sons: Andrew and Patty Miller of Fall River, KS Jason and Tracy Miller of New Albany, KS Brothers: Jim Millar of Fredonia, KS William Millar of New Albany, KS John Millar of New Albany, KS Dan Millar of Fredonia, KS Sister: Katrine Millar of New Albany, KS Grandchildren: Hannah Jeffers, Allison Miller, Wyatt Miller, Matthew Miller and Marshall Miller Her parents, William and Eva Millar; sisters, Rosemary Millar and Carol Voth; brother, Ed Millar; and granddaughter, Lauren Miller preceded her in death. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Monday, March 2, 2015 at Timmons Funeral Home with Mike Myers officiating. Burial will be in the Jackson Cemetery near New Albany. The family will receive friends on Sunday, 4:00-6:00 P.M. at Timmons Funeral Home. A memorial has been established in June"s name with the Fredonia Arts Council and contributions can be sent to or left with Timmons Funeral Home. Words of condolence may be left on this website.
