Judy May Lambert was born on June 6, 1945, in Fredonia, Kansas. She lived a full and caring life until her passing on Wednesday April 8, 2026, at St. Francis Hospital in Wichita, Kansas.
Judy May Lambert was a graduate of Fredonia High School, class of 1963. She lived in Fredonia almost all her life. Over the years, she worked as a secretary at ADM, Fredonia Co-op, and MEC Company. She spent most of her career as a dedicated legal secretary for John Chenoweth Law Office before retiring.
Judy loved cooking and baking. Sharing what she cooked was a big part what brought joy to her life and to those around her. She lovingly provided delicious food for church dinners, family with illness, birthdays, holidays, and just because. Baking cookies to perfection was a hobby and a skill she practiced. Gathering and sharing recipes with sisters and nieces was fun for her. She passed on many of her cooking tips and enjoyed sharing that love of cooking. She also enjoyed crafting, collecting buttons, and planting flower containers for the patio.
Her home was always open. Nieces and nephews who lived outside of town appreciated a welcoming spot there afterschool, before practice, or anytime. An open candy jar, and snacks were kept on hand for just anyone who might be by. This lovingly held true even as those kids grew to adults, and great-nieces and nephews continued to stop by. She easily earned the title of great Aunt Judy. For many years she hosted the Lambert family Christmas Eve and memories were made. It only changed later when eventually the family outgrew her home.
Beyond her hobbies, Judy loved her family deeply. She was so proud of her many nieces and nephews. She talked about and prayed for all of them often. Some of them lovingly claimed her as Mom #2. She loved that she shared so much family from her sisters and brother.
Judy was a faithful member of Cornerstone Christian Church. She was a loving servant to others because of her true faith in Jesus and living to be an example of God’s love.
Judy is survived by her sister, Jo Shue, and her brother, Kenny Lambert. She was preceded in death by her parents, Alva William and Eva Pearl (Butner) Lambert, and her siblings James Lee Lambert, Althea Pearl (Lambert) Baker, and Esther (Lambert) Friend.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Monday April 13, 2026, beginning at 10:00 a.m., and concluding at 11:00 a.m., at the Cornerstone Christian Church, located at 1005 Golf Course Road, Fredonia, Kansas 66736. Following Judy's Celebration of Life, a fellowship with family and friends will take place with burial following at Weakley Cemetery.
Judy will be remembered for her kindness, dedication, and the love she shared with those around her. Her quiet strength and caring spirit touched many lives, and her memory will live on in the hearts of her family and friends.
Memorial remembrances to the Cornerstone Christian Church may be mailed or left at Wickham Family Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 510 N. 7th Street, Fredonia, Kansas 66736.
