Jimmy Lee Rose

Jimmy Lee Rose, 87 of Chanute, Kansas, a man whose life was a tapestry woven with kindness, humility, and laughter, passed away peacefully on April 12, 2026, at Neosho Memorial Regional Medical Center.

Born on July 11, 1938, in the quiet town of Monroe, Iowa, Jimmy carried the echoes of his birthplace in his heart as he journeyed through a life marked by adventure and devotion.

Son of George and Winny (Porter) Rose, Jimmy inherited a legacy grounded in simplicity and strength.

His storytelling spirit was legendary no encounter with Jim was ever ordinary, for he delivered his tales with a new joke tucked under his breath, a gentle grin lighting his face. He was a man who found happiness in the joy of others, a joy he readily shared with those around him. His beloved wife, Mamie, whose playful eye-rolls were a quiet testament to their enduring bond, stood beside him as a constant companion and confidante.

Jim's career as a truck driver was more than a job—it was a calling. With wheels turning and roads unfolding endlessly ahead, he traversed every stretch of highway in the country, bringing goods and stories from corner to corner with steadfast dedication. Later chapters of his life found him grounded in familiar streets, where you could see him mowing lawns alongside his daughter, a picture of family togetherness and simple joys.

His marriage to Mamie Strunk on November 25, 1960, was the cornerstone of a life well-lived, a partnership etched into the daily rhythms of care and companionship. Through decades of shared memories, challenges, and celebrations, Jim remained the kind, gentle man he always was a humble soul whose presence was a balm to those blessed to know him.

Jim is survived by his loving wife, Mamie, his children, Donna Summers, Denny Rose, Wayne Rose, Chrissy Dinkle, Lorriane Gibson, Loretta Rose, and Lynn Cole; he also leaves behind numerous grandchildren. Though the roads he traveled have come to an end, the stories, smiles, and memories he gifted us will forever travel on, riding the winds of time like the endless highways he once knew so well.

Jim is, without a doubt, with his Lord and Savior, and his faith in God was known to all who knew him.

Memorials are suggested to Highland Avenue United Brethren Church can be left with or mailed to the funeral home.

A Celebration of Life memorial service will be held at Highland Avenue United Brethren Church, 1502 South Highland, Chanute, KS, on Saturday, April 18, 2026, at 11:0 a.m.

Services are under the personal care of Wickham Family Funeral Home, 500 North Forest Ave. Chanute, Kansas.
