Jeanie R. Taylor

December 10, 1942 — April 7, 2024

Fredonia

Jeanie R. Taylor, 81, transitioned to her Heavenly home on April 7, 2024, at Heritage Health Care, Chanute KS.

She was born Dec. 10, 1942, in Neodesha, KS. to Nellie Eby-Taylor and Ray Taylor.  It didn’t take Jeanie very long to show the world she loved God, her family and life.  On Sundays, you could find her attending Sunday School with her childhood friends Carolyn & Marilyn or helping her mom with all of her little brothers out on the farm.

After High School in Humboldt, KS. Jeanie moved to Fredonia KS. where she would live out the majority of her life unselfishly serving others.  She lived and cared for her grandmother Doris Eby with whom she had an incredible bond from 1960-1978.  After Grandma’s passing Jeanie worked at Hillcrest Nursing home in various household positions until her retirement in 2007.  Co-workers and Clients alike remembered her work ethic and quick smile.  However, Jeanie’s most important consideration was her love for her Savior Jesus Christ and her positions as a Missionette/Prims sponsor, Sunday school teacher and janitor at her church, First Assembly of God in Fredonia, KS.

Jeanie loved traveling…..almost as much as she loved her fur babies, Boots and Pedro! She enjoyed spoiling them with treat-treats!!!!   She traveled with her friends and family going all over the United States; California to visit her cousin Steve, Texas to visit her favorite Aunt Ruth, a mother/daughter trip to Hawaii, family cruise and many other trips not mentioned.

Jeanie was a woman of faith, integrity and generosity.  She loved Christmas and giving gifts to everyone!  Lets also remember how special she made everyone feel on their birthday with a card and a stick of gum for each year of their life taped to the inside of the card.

Jeanie saw the world through innocent eyes, loved with her whole heart, laughed with her whole being, traveled life’s path and touched lives and don’t forget….she loved a good shrimp dinner with a game of cards following!

She is survived by 4 brothers: Lynn Oliphant and wife Patrie, Tom Oliphant and wife Diana, Stacy Oliphant, Ron Oliphant and wife Pam, 1 sister, Alta Richardson and husband George, 11 Nieces and Nephews, great Nieces and Nephews.  She is Preceded in death by Parents Nellie & Owen Oliphant, brothers S.W. Oliphant and Bill Oliphant.

Cremation has taken place with a Celebration of Jeanie's Life service held at a later date.  Services under the guidance of Wickham Family Funeral Home, 510 North 7th, Fredonia, Kansas.
