Jason (JD) Wayne DeTienne

Jason W. (JD) DeTienne, 52, of Independence, Kansas passed away from colon cancer at 12:25 A.M., Thursday, June 25, 2026, at his home.

Jason Wayne DeTienne was born June 6, 1974, in Independence the son of Lary Wayne DeTienne and Linda (Keck) DeTienne. He grew up in Independence and graduated from Independence High School in 1992.

He worked for Cobalt, City of Independence and construction until ill health.

Jason was an avid hunter and loved to fish.

He is survived by his mother, Linda DeTienne of Independence, daughter, Katie and a granddaughter. He is also survived by his uncle, Freddie Keck of Cherryvale, Kansas, aunt, Jacqueline Anthony of El Dorado, Kansas and many cousins.

He was preceded in death by his father.

Cremation has taken place under the guidance and personal care of Wickham Family Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 216 East 4th Street, Cherryvale, Kansas 67335.

Memorial remembrances are suggested to Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice or AWOL and they may be left or mailed to the funeral home.
