Jane Elizabeth Cox

Jane Elizabeth Cox, 58, a longtime resident of Chanute, Kansas, formerly of Wichita, Kansas, died Sunday, January 3, 2016 at Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice-St. Francis Campus in Wichita, Kansas. She was born October 2, 1957 in Fredonia, Kansas, the daughter of George E. and Ramona D. (Cutler) Cox. She was a 1975 graduate of Altoona Midway High School and received an Associate"s Degree from Neosho County Community College. She also studied computer programming at Wichita Area Technical College. Currently Jane was a data specialist for the STARS Student Support Services at Neosho County Community College. She was a member of the First Christian Church Disciples of Christ in Chanute where she was active in the Sanctuary Choir, Disciple Ding-A-Lings Handbell Choir and a former Chi Rho-CYF Youth Director. Jane was very passionate about her involvement in the Chanute Community Theater, where she directed or acted in more than thirty plays. Jane"s survivors include: Three brothers: Ed and Deborah Cox of Chanute, KS Lonnie Cox of Topeka, KS Randy and Karen Cox of Chanute, KS One sister: Susan and Larry Beck of Chanute, KS 3 nieces; 3 nephews; 6 great nieces; and 3 great nephews She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Ramona Cox; grandparents, Tom and Lela Cox, Jake and Virginia Cutler; and brother, Doyle Cox. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, January 9, 2016 at the Chanute First Christian Church with Pastor Tom Eastman officiating. Burial will be in the Buffalo Cemetery. Memorials have been established in Jane"s name with Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice and Chanute First Christian Church and contributions can be sent to or left with Timmons Funeral Home.
