James D. Beard

James Dale Beard passed away peacefully at his residence on October 21, 2020 under the care of Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice.

James was born on November 12, 1937 in Newkirk, Oklahoma to Walter Laverne Beard Sr. and Florence (Mauk) Beard.

He was united in marriage on November 22, 1961 to Ramona (Jennings) Beard in Valley Center, Kansas.

James served in the Army Reserve, Air Force and Seabees

He grew up in Oklahoma. He lived several years in Southern California in North Hollywood before moving to Jewell, Kansas in 1974. In 1980, he moved his family to Cherryvale, Kansas to be closer to his mother in law and father in law.

James was a huge Oklahoma Sooner football fan. His daughter always made sure he had an Oklahoma Sooner Christmas ornament, Oklahoma Sooners calendar, and an airplane calendar at Christmas time for him to enjoy.

James is survived by his wife of 58 years, Ramona and their two children Jeffrey of Independence, Kansas and Julie of Cherryvale, Kansas.

James was preceded in death by his mother, father, sister, three brothers, father in law, mother in law and a brother in law.

Cremation has taken place under the guidance Wickham Family Funeral Home of Cherryvale. There will be no memorial service per James' request. Family would like to thank Harry Hynes memorial Hospice, Ascension Medical Saint John Clinic in independence for their great care of James.
