James "Jim" Dennis Case, born on March 2, 1949, in Greeley, Colorado, passed away at Freeman West Hospital, in Joplin Missouri, on Tuesday December 16, 2025.
Jim's professional journey spanned several notable establishments including Borovetz Liquor, G&W in Cherryvale and Independence, the Cherryvale Care Center in Cherryvale, Jencast Foundry, Walmart, Dolly Madison, and Acme Foundry. His work ethics and dedication were evident throughout his varied career.
A proud graduate of Labette County High School, Class of 1967, Jim then earned an Associate of Science degree from Coffeyville Community College and participated in the OCS program at Ozark Bible College. His commitment to service extended beyond education, as he served as a Staff Sergeant in the Army National Guard, demonstrating his dedication to his country.
On July 6, 1968, Jim was united in marriage to Sharon L. Boyer in Cherryvale, Kansas and they were married until her passing January 1, 2012. On June 4, 2021, in Independence, Kansas Jim married Susan Morrow, she survives at their home.
Jim was a member of the New Hope Christian Church and was actively involved with the Bowlers Association. He found great joy in a variety of hobbies including umpiring softball and baseball. He was also an avid bowler. One of his greatest pleasures was spending time on the golf course with his grandson, Preston. His love for food and family gatherings brought warmth and laughter into his life.
Jim is survived by his devoted wife, Susan (Morrow) Case, of Independence, Kansas. He leaves behind his children: Lorne Case of Cherryvale, Kansas; Timothy Case of Wichita, Kansas; Tami (Jonathan) Rash of Cherryvale, Kansas; and Jamie (Joe) Cannon of Cherryvale, Kansas. His legacy continues through his siblings: Brian Lehman, Lavonne Sterling, Rosemary Sterling, and Billy Jo Sterling, as well as his beloved grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Preston, Cameron, Tobin, Piper, and great-grandchildren Teagan, Everlee, and Taylen, Tucker, Noah and Willow.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Sharon L. Boyer, his daughter Melinda Ainesworth, and his parents Alvia M. and Goldye P. (Thompson) Case.
A memorial service will be held in his honor on Monday December 22, 2025, at New Hope Christian Church in Cherryvale, starting at 10:00 AM. His legacy will forever shine within the hearts of those who knew him.
