Hazel M. Wickham, 80, of Sedan, Kansas passed away Wednesday, August 24, 2022, at her home with family by her side.
Hazel Mae Wickham was born December 21, 1941, in Arkansas City, Kansas the daughter of George Young and Pearl (Atkins) Young. She grew up in the Cedarvale area and graduated from Cedarvale High School in 1960.
On August 20, 1960, in Sedan, Kansas she was united in marriage to Thomas “Tom” Wickham, and he survives at the home.
Hazel was a self-employed truck driver owning Wickham Trucking for over 40 years. She could haul and dump rock with the best around the area. She knew every lease road there was in the four-county region and could tell you which ones not to drive on.
When she was not working, she enjoyed her flowers, gardening, and her family.
Survivors include her husband, Tom of the home, children, Peggy Lane, of Sedan, Kansas, Becki Starbuck of Elk City, Oklahoma, sisters, Loretta Vardy of Arkansas City, Kansas, Betty Wellner of El Dorado, Kansas, 10 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren and 1 great great granddaughter.
She was preceded in death by her parents, son, Rex Wickham and brother, Mike Young.
Graveside Services will be held 2:00 P.M., Saturday, August 27, 2022, at Casement Cemetery, Road 18, Sedan, Kansas.
Memorial remembrances are suggested to Home Town Health Care or Chautauqua County Animal Shelter, and they may be left or mailed to Wickham Family Funeral Home, 510 North 7th, Fredonia, Kansas 66736.
