Glenn L. Rettmann

January 17, 1953 — March 12, 2020

Glenn Leroy Rettmann, 67 of rural Altoona, Kansas, passed away Thursday, March 12, 2020 at Wesley Medical Center.

Glenn was born on January 17, 1953, to Charles and Mary (Jarred) Rettmann. He attended school at Altoona High School, graduating in 1971. He also attended Independence Community College where he worked as a radio DJ in Independence while going to college.

He married Sue Ann Solomon in 1972, they were later divorced. He married Marlene Mitchell on June 9, 1990 in Chanute, Kansas. She survives at the home.

Glenn worked as a farmer. He was a cattleman and a grain hauler with Bradford Grain. He enjoyed cattle, dogs, friendship hour and giving people a hard time. He was the president of Kansas Farm Bureau and numerous other boards in Altoona and Fredonia.

Survivors in addition to his wife, Marlene, include his mother Mary Rettmann, of Altoona, Kansas, sister, Teresa (husband Wes) Crawford of Sherman, Texas, son Jon (former wife, Tonya) Rettmann of Altoona, Kansas, daughter Holly ( husband Chris) Randle of Clearwater, Kansas, son Jamie (wife Amber) Sexton of Altoona, Kansas, daughter Christy Myers of Springfield, Missouri, son Joshua(wife Kristin) Rettmann of Altoona, Kansas; grandchildren Tyler and Zane Sexton, Matthew Myers, Kaitlyn Cramer, Zach and Hayley Trotter, Aidan Randle, Austin, Bailey and Gage Rettmann, Addison, Oliver and Lynk Patry; great-grandchildren, Jack Sexton and Dawson Cramer.

His father, Charles Rettmann and Aunt Marjorie Brown preceded him in death.

Celebration of Life services will be 3:00 pm, Tuesday, March 17, 2020 at Wickham Family Funeral Home, 510 N. 7th Fredonia, Kansas. Visitation will be 6:00-8:00pm Monday, March 16, 2020 at the funeral home.

Memorial remembrances are suggested to the Altoona and Altoona Midway High School lunch fund and the Altoona Cemetery Fund and may be left or mailed to the funeral home.
