Forest Joseph Peugh, a member of the Cherryvale community, his entire life, and beloved family man, passed away Tuesday May 26, 2026, at Labette Health in Parsons, Kansas. Born on September 18, 1936, in Cherryvale, Kansas, Forest lived a life marked by dedication, service, and a deep connection to his roots and loved ones.
Forest attended Cherryvale High School and proudly served his country in the United States Navy for eight years, attaining the rank of E5. Following his military service, he devoted 33 years to the Army Ammunition Plant, where he worked diligently in the water treatment department until his retirement in 1995. His commitment to his work and community reflected the values he held dear throughout his life.
Known for his love of the outdoors, Forest’s hobbies spoke to a life well lived and a spirit that treasured simple pleasures. He delighted in hunting and fishing, enjoyed crafting model trains, and had a passion for making bird feeders and houses. His affection for koi fish and time spent outdoors enriched his days, while movie nights with family were among his most cherished moments. Forest attended the Bible Holiness Church in Cherryvale.
Forest married Cathy Mooney in Miami Oklahoma, they were married until her passing on October 21, 1990.
Forest is survived by his daughter Annette (Keith) Triebel of Cherryvale, his siblings Patti (Eric) Eli and Freda Tabor, both of Cherryvale, two grandchildren, Bryan (Wendy) Triebel and Nick Page, and four great-grandchildren, Caiden and Cooper Triebel, Benson Page, and Kobbie Thornton. Together, they carry forward his legacy of love and strength.
He was preceded in death by his devoted wife, Cathy (Mooney) Peugh; his daughter, Tena Kay Page; great-grandson Gavin Triebel; brother Vernal Peugh; and his parents, Joseph and Amy (Brown) Peugh.
A Celebration of Life honoring Forest Joseph Peugh will be held on Saturday June 6, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Wickham Family Funeral Home in Cherryvale, Kansas, located at 216 E 4th St. This gathering will provide an opportunity for family, friends, and the community to come together and remember a man who touched many lives with kindness, dedication, and a generous spirit. Burial will be at a later date, at the Fairview Cemetery.
Forest Joseph Peugh’s life was a testament to service, family, and the joy found in both the quiet and active moments of life. His memory will continue to inspire all who knew him. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered.
Memorial remembrances to the Wounded Warriors or Honor Flight, may be left or mailed to the funeral home.
