Douglas Allen Dietsch, of Chanute, Kansas, a beloved husband, father, brother, and friend, passed away at the age of 56 on February 9, 2026, in Olathe, Kansas.
He was born to Robert (Bob) Dietsch and Susan (Jones) Burkman in Frankfurt, Germany, on June 6, 1969.
He spent his formative years in Chanute, Kansas, where he graduated from Chanute Senior High School in the class of 1987.
Doug was united in marriage to his high school sweetheart, Jennifer Lock, on August 29, 1992, in Chanute, Kansas.
He dedicated 26 years of his professional life to the Gates Rubber Company in Iola, Kansas, exemplifying the strong work ethic that he was known for. He was a simple man of few words, but his wit and playful spirit were evident to those who knew him well. Those who were fortunate to share moments with Doug will remember the way he wore a characteristic smirk, which reflected his light-hearted nature. Beneath this exterior, he harbored a soft side that revealed his caring character, deeply passionate about his family and friends.
In his leisure time, Doug found joy in a variety of hobbies. He took pleasure in fishing, playing pool with friends, and enjoying the thrill of hunting. As a passionate sports fan, Doug was devoted to KU Basketball and Chiefs Football, often sharing these interests with those close to him. Doug was particularly fond of cruising in his cherished 1967 convertible Chevelle, often accompanied by his dogs, and he took great pride in maintaining his swimming pool and yard.
Doug is survived by his loving wife, Jennifer, who made their home together, and his cherished sons: Caleb Dietsch and fiancé Jessica Doshier of Olathe, Kansas, and Cameron (Sydni) Dietsch of Chanute, Kansas. He is also survived by his sister, Delisa (Jerry) Morris of Wichita, Kansas, his mother-in-law, Marilyn Lock, and brother-in-law Greg Lock. Doug took immense pride in being a grandfather to Kasen Dietsch, with another grandchild expected in March. Additionally, he is remembered by his nieces, Tierra Defebaugh and Tiffany (Scott) Sutherland, both of Wichita, Kansas, as well as his great nieces and nephews, Rhett, Rory, Reese, and Reed.
Doug was preceded in death by his mother, Susan Burkman; his grandmother, Ada Jones; and his father-in-law, Larry Lock.
