David Alan Wescott

David Alan Wescott, passed away at his home on Tuesday, June 10, 2025, at the age of 75. Born on August 26, 1949, in Fredonia, Kansas, David was a lifelong resident of the area.

A proud graduate of Midway High School in 1967, David further pursued his education at Emporia State University. He served as an Army medic from 1969 to 1971 in Frankfurt, Germany, a role that exemplified his dedication to helping others and his commitment to his country.

David was united in marriage to Cheryl Carlson on November 1, 1968, in Buffalo, Kansas. Cheryl survives at their home.

David enjoyed a distinguished career, retiring after three decades at Lafarge Cement Plant in Fredonia.  Beyond his professional endeavors, he farmed, embracing the rural life he loved so dearly.

In addition to his work, David found joy in various hobbies. He cherished spending time fishing and hunting, and he took great pride in spoiling his grandchildren, as well as watching sports.

David leaves behind his loving wife, Cheryl (Carlson) Wescott.  He is also survived by his children, Rodney (Lynette) Wescott of Arcadia, Kansas, and Kristi (Adam) Thornton of Thayer, Kansas. His legacy continues through his cherished grandchildren: Leah Wescott of Wichita, Kansas, Kyle Wescott of Arcadia, Kansas, Jacob Thornton of Thayer, Kansas, and Maci Thornton of Thayer, Kansas.

He is remembered fondly by his mother, Norma (Cook) Wescott of Chanute, Kansas, and his siblings, Peggy Ward of Chanute, Kansas, Becky (Monty) Nelson of Arkansas, and Tammy (Harlan) Sloan of Buffalo, Kansas. David was preceded in death by his father, Howard Wescott, an infant son, and siblings Roger Wescott and Vicky Kline.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate David's life during visitation on Monday June 16, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, followed by a funeral service at 11:00 AM at the Wickham Family Funeral Home in Fredonia, Kansas. 

Memorial remembrances to the Buffalo Methodist Church or the Wescott Grandchildren Education Fund, can be mailed or left at the funeral home 510 N. 7th Fredonia, Kansas 66736
