Cynthia (Cindy) DeAnn Stilwell (Lewis), 69, of Erie, Kansas, passed away peacefully on May 29, 2026, at her home, surrounded by the love of her family. Cindy was born to Dan Lewis Jr. and Nellie Beth Griffith on October 24, 1956, in Augusta, Kansas. She also had a stepfather, Alvin Perkins.
Cindy was a graduate of Augusta High School's class of 1974. She embarked on a career that showcased her skill and commitment, working for more than two decades at Boeing Aircraft in Wichita as both a mechanic and a shop coordinator. Her professional journey continued with another twenty years at Micron in Boise, Idaho, where she specialized in the intricate work of making computer chips. Alongside her career achievements, Cindy honored her country by serving in the Navy Reserve, an indication of her strong sense of duty and patriotism. Cindy was also a member of Beta Sigma PHI.
On May 2, 1995, Cindy united in marriage to Michael (Mike) Wade Stilwell in Reno, Nevada. Their partnership was one of mutual respect and love, a foundation upon which Cindy cherished deeply. She was a woman with many passions; she enjoyed fishing, reading, and gardening, activities that brought her peace and joy. The Oregon Coast held a special place in her heart, a retreat she loved to visit with her husband and family.
Cindy’s legacy continues through her beloved family. She is survived by her husband, Michael (Mike) of the home; her children, Steven Lawson of Augusta, Kansas, and Joshua Stilwell of Iola, Kansas; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind her brother, Jay Lewis of Douglas, Kansas, and her sister, Debbie Rodgers of Alamogordo, New Mexico. Cindy was preceded in death by her parents, a son, Gary Lawson, and her brother, Richard Lewis.
Memorials are suggested to the family to be used for Cindy’s wishes, and can be left with or mailed to the funeral home.
A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held Saturday, June 6, 2026, at 10:30 a.m. at Wickham Family Funeral Home, 500 North Forest Avenue, Chanute, Kansas 66720.
