Charles "Chuck" R. Broadaway

Charles “Chuck” R. Broadaway, 73, of Cherryvale, Kansas passed away Friday, December 31, 2021, at Labette Health in Parsons, Kansas.

Charles Richard Broadaway was born May 8, 1948, in Carthage, Missouri the son of Gerald and Elsie (Bailey) Broadaway.

After graduating high school, he attended Chattahoochee Valley Community College in Phenix City, Alabama.

Chuck served his country with the United States Army for many years and retired honorably in 1987 as a Sergeant First Class.

He was united in marriage to Jeanne Pruitt, and she preceded him in death January of 1984.

Chuck was the owner/operator of Chuck Broadaway Lawn Service for many years.

He enjoyed fishing, camping, anything to do with John Deere, Nascar, traveling, movies and reading.

He loved his family and loved to visit with everyone. He was a member of the National Rifle Association (NRA).

Survivors include his daughters, Amy Holt and her husband Jimmy of Cherryvale, Jacqueline Golden and her husband, Kevin of Cherryvale, sisters, Dora Presley of Arkansas, Gerry Knipmeyer of Oklahoma, grandchildren, Misty Tilton, Alyssa Gustin, Randie Golden and Jacob Holt.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Jeanne, daughter, Elizabeth Miller, son, Michael Broadaway, and brother, Kenneth Broadaway.

The family will receive friends Thursday, January 6, 2022, from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M at Wickham Family Funeral Home, 216 East 4th, Cherryvale, Kansas 67335.

Private family services will take place Friday, January 7, 2022, at the funeral home.

Graveside services will be held at 2:30 P.M., Friday, January 7, 2022, at Pratt Cemetery in rural Montgomery County, Kansas. The Kansas Army National Guard will provide military honors.

Memorial remembrances are suggested to the Wounded Warrior Project, and they may be left or mailed to the funeral home.
