Charles C. Thomas, 92, a rural Fall River resident, died Sunday, May 31st 2020, at his home.
Charles Clifford Thomas was born June 19, 1927 in rural Fredonia, Kansas to Grover and Alta (Ghrist) Thomas. He graduated from Fall River High School in 1945.
On May 2, 1964 he was united in marriage to Elizabeth Irma Penner in Fredonia, Kansas and she preceded him in death May 15, 2009.
Charles was a rancher/farmer and enjoyed ranching, investing, and working and plowing the ground. Charles served in the United States Army during the Korean War in Germany.
Charles was a member of First Christian Church, Odd Fellows Society and the REC board.
Survivors include his son, Jon Thomas and wife Shannon, Fredonia, Kansas, sister, Mary Viola “Vi” Welch, Moline, Kansas, sister in law, Beulah Thomas, Longton, Kansas, granddaughter, Samantha Thomas, Kansas City, Missouri and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his wife, Liz, Charles was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Bob Thomas, sister, Estele Wilson, brother in law, Leo Welch and brother in law, Lawrence Wilson.
The family will greet friends Thursday, June 4th from 5:00-7:00 pm at Wickham Family Funeral Home 510 N. 7th, Fredonia, Kansas.
Celebration of Charles’ Life will be held Friday, June 5th at 10:30 AM at the First Christian Church, 303 N. 7th, Fredonia, Kansas.
Interment will follow services at Fredonia City Cemetery.
Memorial remembrances are suggested to the Fall River BBQ and they may be left or mailed to the funeral home.
