It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Bonnie Jean (Mitchell) White, a cherished wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She departed from this world on April 20, 2026, at Neosho Memorial Regional Medical Center to meet her Savior in Heaven. Born on January 22, 1953, in Chanute, Kansas, Bonnie’s journey was one of love, kindness, strength, and unwavering devotion to her family.
Bonnie was the eldest daughter of John and Ella Mae Mitchell. This is where she began her life filled with caregiving, strength, and humor. She spent her formative years in Chanute, Kansas, where she graduated from Chanute High School in 1971. It was then that she met the love of her life, David Alan White. On June 7, 1970, they embarked on a lifelong journey filled with love, laughter and tears, raising three wonderful children together: Alan, Gidget, and Holly.
Throughout her life, Bonnie wore many hats. She worked as a para in the schools and served as a rural mail carrier, but her greatest joy was found in supporting her husband, David, as they tackled various business ventures, rentals, and farming. Bonnie’s dedication to her family was unparalleled, and her nurturing spirit was felt by all who knew her. Her greatest pride and joy were her grandchildren, whom she adored and loved beyond measure. Brett, Andrew (Jenna), Mikaella (Joshua), Allie (Matthew), Koby, Timothy, David, Jackson, Ella, and Grace were the twinkle in her eye. Her heart swelled with love for her great-grandchildren, Huxton and the eagerly anticipated Baby Bean.
Bonnie was the epitome of resilience, joy, and love. Her home was always open and full of grandchildren's laughter and smiles. She was the strength everyone turned to and a listening ear, day or night. Even in the face of illness, she continued to rock and play with her beloved grandchildren and great-grandson. Bonnie's strength and unwavering spirit were a testament to her character and faith and left a permanent mark on all who knew her. She will forever be remembered as the nicest, sweetest person, the best mom, and the best grandma anyone could ever ask for. Bonnie Jean White's lasting impact on her family stands as a testament to a life well lived. As we say goodbye, we hold dear the memories of her boundless love and kindness. Though she has left this earthly realm, her spirit lives on in the hearts of those she touched.
She is survived by her beloved husband, David; her children, Alan (Kim) White, Gidget (Randall) Lorett, and Holly Borton; her siblings, Bill (Sue) Mitchell and Beverly (Mike) McGee; and a legacy of ten grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. She is predeceased by her parents, John and Ella Mae Mitchell.
A visitation to celebrate Bonnie’s life will be held on Saturday, April 25, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Wickham Family Funeral Home, 500 North Forest Ave, in Chanute. This gathering will offer family, friends, colleagues, and community members an opportunity to remember and pay respects to a woman whose kindness, dedication, and love deeply touched so many. The Celebration of Life Funeral Service will follow at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home, with burial at Shaw Cemetery.
Memorials are suggested to The Carlie Almond Scholarship Fund and can be left with or mailed to the funeral home.
