Betty Lou Holliday, age 85, of Neodesha, Kansas, passed away on Sunday, November 26, 2023. Betty was born on December 5, 1937, in Wellsburg, West Virginia, the daughter of Raymond and Hazel Holliday. Betty married Jerry Holliday on June 1, 1955. Their meeting and subsequent marriage is a serendipitous story due to her maiden name and married name being the same.


Betty was a devoted homemaker and dedicated her life to her family. She was a beloved mother to her children, Chere (David) Parker, Dee Rush, Tamm (Brian) Masoner, and Ashley Holliday. Betty cherished her role as a grandmother and leaves behind a legacy of love to her grandchildren  David J. Parker, Hannah- April J. Parker, Bradley (Emily) Holliday, Zachary (Jennifer) Holliday, Kira Osburn, Kody Osburn, Tyler (Katie) Underwood, Blayn Masoner, Brandon Bennett, and Shawn (Allisan) Bennett, great-grandmother to ten great-grandchildren Daphne and Dottie Holliday (Brad), Emma Holliday (Zach), Klaire and Kade Harnage (Kira), Jesse Underwood (Tyler), Chevy and Leah Bennett (Brandon), PearlAnne and WillaJean Bennett (Shawn), and sister, Nancy (Jerry) Vossen.


She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Jerry Holliday, her parents, her son, Michael Holliday, grandson, Daniel Parker, and her sisters, Joan Lee and Eileen Tarantino.


Betty had a vibrant personality and was deeply involved in her community. She dedicated her time to the Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts, serving as a leader for many years in the Neodesha area. Alongside her husband, Jerry and Betty were Lay Witness Coordinators for the United Methodist Church, where they traveled to various states and countries, testifying their faith in Jesus and helping lead people to the Lord. Betty was also an accomplished seamstress, sewing clothes for her family, making costumes, cheerleader uniforms, quilts, curtains, and repairing anything that needed mending. She was an active member of Verdigris Valley Christian Fellowship in Altoona, Kansas, where she worshipped and cherished her church family and many friends.


A funeral service to celebrate Betty's life will be held at 12:00 PM on Friday, December 1, 2023, at Verdigris Valley Christian Fellowship in Altoona, Kansas. Prior to the service, there will be a visitation from 11:00 AM until service time at the church. Contributions in Betty's memory can be made to Verdigris Valley Christian Fellowship. The Wickham Family Funeral Home in Fredonia, Kansas, is assisting the family with the arrangements.


Betty Lou Holliday will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all those whose lives she touched. May her memory be a blessing.
