Althea F. Wells, 91, a lifelong resident of Fredonia, Kansas died Saturday, September 13, 2014 at Fredonia Regional Hospital. She was born March 7, 1923 in Fredonia, the daughter of Oliver and Laura (Stover) Marlett. Althea was a graduate of Fredonia High School. She was retired from Wells Woodworks where she had been employed for 36 years. On September 4, 1945 in Buxton, Kansas, Althea was united in marriage to Harvey Wells. He preceded her in death November 5, 2003. Althea"s survivors include: Son & Daughter-In-Law: Greg and Deb Wells of Fredonia, KS Grandchildren: Lisa & Jason Huebner of Emporia, KS Stephanie and Jay Jasnoski of Overland Park, KS Collin and Hollie Mellon of Overland Park, KS Sister: Estal Henderson of Fredonia, KS 9 great-grandchildren Her parents; brothers, Byron Marlett and Chet Marlett; and infant sister, Bernice Marlatt also preceded her in death. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Wednesday, September 17, 2014 at the Fredonia City Cemetery with Jason Huebner officiating. Friends may call at Timmons Funeral Home on Tuesday, Noon-5:00 P.M. A memorial has been established in Althea"s name with Fredonia Educational Foundation to be used for the Lincoln Elementary Assistance Fund for Children in Need and contributions can be sent to or left with Timmons Funeral Home.
