William H. Farmer, 55, resident of Altoona, Kansas, formerly of Burlington, Kansas, died Friday, May 8, 2015 at Via Christi St. Francis Medical Center in Wichita, Kansas. He was born June 8, 1959 in Fredonia, Kansas, the son of Charles E. and Edna B. (Louia) Farmer. William was a graduate of Fredonia High School and attended Emporia State University. He retired in 2013 from Wolf Creek Nuclear Operating Corporation in Burlington, where he had been employed for 24 years. He was married to Shawn M. Smith and they were later divorced. William was a member of the Knights of Columbus. His hobbies included traveling and being a history enthusiast. His survivors include: Children: Michael Smith of Topeka, KS Christopher Smith of Melvern, KS Michelle Farmer of Altoona, KS Morgan Vogel of Priest River, ID Brothers: Kenneth Farmer of Cherryvale, KS Robert Farmer of Altoona, KS Several grandchildren He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Charles E. Farmer; and his son, Mathew Farmer. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Friday, May 15, 2015 at Timmons Funeral Home with Pastor Jim Raymond of the Verdigris Valley Christian Fellowship officiating. Burial will be in the Altoona Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Thursday evening, 5:00 P.M.-7:00 P.M. at Timmons Funeral Home. A memorial has been established in William"s name with the American Heart Association and the American Cancer Society and contributions may be sent to Timmons Funeral Home.
