William "Bill" L. Marr

William L. "Bill" Marr, 89, a lifelong resident of Coyville, Kansas, died Sunday, April 15, 2007, at Fredonia Regional Hospital. He was born October 31, 1917 in Coyville, the son of Victor and Ethel (Gross) Marr. He was a graduate of Coyville High School and served in the United States Army during World War II. On September 3, 1949 in Bentonville, Arkansas, he married Dorothy Lou "Dot" Shields. She preceded him in death April 4, 2005. Mr. Marr was employed by the United States Corps of Engineers as a stream gauger for 25 years, retiring in 1972. He was a member of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees and the Coyville United Methodist Church. His survivors include: Three sons and daughters-in-law: Monty & Debbie Marr of Topeka, KS Jan Marr of Coyville, KS Kent & Gyla Marr of Coyville, KS One brother: Harley Marr of Coyville, KS One sister: Maxine Ellison of Huntington Beach, CA Five grandchildren: Darrin Marr; Tiffany Way; Lindsee Myers; Deric Marr and Hayley Marr Six great grandchildren: Maloree, Alex, Clayton, Hadley, Kylea and Adilynn Graveside services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, April 21, 2007, at the Coyville Cemetery with Rev. Gene Benefiel officiating. Friends may call at Timmons Funeral Home on Friday, 2:00 P.M.-7:00 P.M., where the family will receive friends 6:00 P.M.-7:00 P.M. A memorial has been established in his name with the Coyville Cemetery Association and may be sent to the funeral home.
