WAYNE E. HALLOWELLWayne E. Hallowell, 81, of Cherryvale, Kansas passed away Thursday, April 16, 2015 at Cherryvale Nursing and Rehabilitation Center with his children by his side.Wayne Eastin Hallowell was born August 20, 1933 in Glendale, California the son of Floyd Hallowell and Dorothy (Young) Hallowell. He attended and graduated from Glendale High School in 1952. He went on to further his education at Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, California where he received a Master"s in Art Degree.On September 10, 1955 in Glendale, California he was united in marriage to Gracie Lee Carner and they later divorced in 1976.He was called to active duty with the United States Navy on December 19, 1955 and was honorably discharged November 13, 1957. While with the Navy he designed the Construction Battalion Seal and worked with the Architectural Design Team of the Military Housing in Guam.Wayne was as a Graphic Art Designer and worked for Max Factor, Mattel, Motion Picture Studios, designed the artwork for "It"s A Small World" at Disneyland, designed artwork at the Bird Sanctuary at Busch Gardens in St. Louis, Missouri, helped with the transition of the Queen Mary cruise ship to a Hotel. He was well known for his logo work. In 1998 he moved to Cherryvale and was co-owner of the Leatherock Hotel.Wayne had a passion for trains, stained glass, museums, history and anything to do with art. He will be remembered for his unconditional love, kindness and respect for others, work ethic and was an amazing father and grandfather.Survivors include daughters, Renee Miller and her husband Mark of Sunland, California, Caryn McWorter of Mammoth Lake, California, son Curtis Hallowell and his wife Sara of Palatine, Illinois, brother, Richard Hallowell of Brookings, Oregon, 5 grandchildren and numerous close friends in the Cherryvale community.Reflections on the memories of Wayne"s life will be held Monday, April 20, 2015 from 6:00 P.M. until 7:30 P.M. at Wickham Family Funeral Home, 216 East 4th, Cherryvale, Kansas. Friends may sign the register book from 12Noon until 7:30 P.M. at the funeral home.Memorial remembrances are suggested to the Cherryvale Food Bank or the Cherryvale Men"s Breakfast and they may be left or mailed to the funeral home.
