Virginia May Lewis

Virginia May Lewis, 89, a lifelong resident of Wilson County, Kansas, died Tuesday, May 21, 2013 at Golden Living Center in Fredonia. She was born February 14, 1924 in Altoona, Kansas, the daughter of Roy and Lena (Varner) Lewellen. Virginia was a graduate of Benedict High School. On March 17, 1947 in Wellington, Kansas, Virginia was united in marriage to Charles William "Red" Lewis. He survives at Golden Living Center. Virginia was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and Gold Dust Quilters. Her hobbies included crocheting, quilting, collecting salt and pepper shakers, going to yard sales, gardening and playing cards. In addition to her husband, Charlie, she is survived by: One son and daughter-in-law: Ronald and Janice Lewis of Lincoln, NE One sister: Virda King of Fredonia, KS One grandson and his wife: Jason and Brenda Lewis of Clayton, CA Two great granddaughters: Evelyn and Jenna Lewis of Clayton, CA She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Marjorie Cook. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Tuesday, May 28, 2013 at Timmons Funeral Home with Carl Thornton officiating. Burial will be in the Altoona Cemetery. A memorial has been established in Virginia"s name with Altoona Avenue of Flags and can be sent to or left at Timmons Funeral Home. Words of condolence may be left on this website in the guestbook.
