Violet Marie Prichard

Violet Marie Prichard, 93, a longtime resident of Fredonia, Kansas, died Thursday, May 10, 2012 at her daughter"s home in Chickasha, Oklahoma, where she had resided for the past two years. She was born March 21, 1919 in Yates Center, Kansas, the daughter of James Isaac and Henryetta Pauline (Miller) DeCou. Violet was a graduate of Toronto High School and a letterman on the girls basketball team, She was employed by USD 484 for 22 years as a school cook, retiring in 1985. On November 30, 1939 in Fredonia, Violet was joined in marriage to Curtis Prichard. He preceded her in death November 9, 1963. Violet was a member of the First Christian Church, VFW Auxiliary and enjoyed time at the Senior Citizens Center in Chickasha. Her survivors include: Three daughters: Patricia Hilyard of Fredonia, KS Linda Blevins of Chickasha, OK Marcia Bulla of King, NC One sister: Helen Kitterman of Derby, KS Twelve grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, and 17 great-great grandchildren. Her parents; three brothers, Floyd, Harold and Albert; one sister, Melba; and three grandchildren, Alexis, Zachary, and Mercy, preceded her in death. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday, May 15, 2012 at the First Christian Church in Fredonia with Pastor Milo Steffen officiating. Burial will be in the Fredonia City Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Monday, 5:00 P.M.-7:00 P.M. at Timmons Funeral Home. A memorial has been established in Violet"s name with the First Christian Church and donations can be sent to Timmons Funeral Home. Words of condolence for the family may be left on this website.
