Vern G. Messner

Vern G. Messner, 73, of Derby, Kansas, passed away, Tuesday, November 17, 2020 at his home.

Vern Guy Messner was born to Ted and Opal (Wethey) Messner on April 30, 1947 in Independence, Kansas.

He attended High School in Cherryvale, Kansas. Vern served in the United States Navy from 1964 until 1968 when he was honorably discharged.
Vern was united in marriage to Rhonda Hooper, December 9, 1968 in Stillwater, Oklahoma and they were later divorced.

He was a Painter working for Catalytic Industrial for 7 years before going to Hawker Beechcraft, from which he retired.



He is survived by his children; Stacy (Michelle) Messner of Wichita, Kansas, Teresa Harlan of Augusta, Kansas and Jamie (Joe) Ramirez of Derby, Kansas. siblings; Artie Hopkins and Sandy Blackburn of Cherryvale, Kansas; grandchildren, Kenzie (Clayton) Gerbrandt, Gabby Harlan, Maddex and Jersey Ramirez, expecting great grandchild Abel Gerbrandt.



Vern is preceded in death by his parents and siblings; Bill Messner, John Messner, James Messner, Bertha Norton, and Mildred Strow.

Friends may sign the register book from 10:00 A.M. until 12Noon Saturday, November 21, 2020 at Wickham Family Funeral Home, 216 East 4th, Cherryvale, Kansas.

A Celebration of Life Graveside Service will be held at 1:00 P.M., Saturday, November 21, 2020 at Fairview Cemetery, Cherryvale, Kansas with military rites by the Navy Honor Guard.


Services are under the guidance of Wickham Family Funeral Home.
