Thelma Irene Edens

Thelma Irene Edens, 92, a longtime resident of Fredonia, Kansas died Tuesday, August 19, 2014 at Wilson Medical Center in Neodesha, Kansas. She was born May 10, 1922 in Halstead, Kansas, the daughter of Russell and Zella (Stewart) Morriss. Thelma was a homemaker. On December 31, 1938 in Ball Creek, Arkansas, Thelma was united in marriage to Luther Edens Sr. He preceded her in death June 7, 2011. Thelma was a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah"s Witnesses. She had also been active with H.D.U. and enjoyed sewing, quilting, cooking and gardening. Thelma"s survivors include: Sons & Daughters-In-Law: Luther Edens Jr. of Baxter Springs, KS Jack & Marlene Edens of Fredonia, KS Donald & Sharon Edens of Fredonia, KS John & Sandy Edens of Fredonia, KS Daughters & Sons-In-Law: Barbara & Randy Curtis of Elk City, KS Loretta Chambers & Pat Houts of Fredonia, KS Brother: Ira Morriss of Harlingen, TX Sister: Margaret Gillespie of Admire, KS 10 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren Her parents, Russell and Zella Morriss; brother, Bob Morriss; sister, Donna Davis; and daughter-in-law, Delores Edens also preceded her in death. Graveside services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Friday, August 22, 2014 at the Coyville Cemetery in Coyville, Kansas with Jim Conner officiating. Memorials have been established in Thelma"s name with the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah"s Witnesses and the Coyville Community Center and contributions can be sent to or left with Timmons Funeral Home.
