Robert "Buddy" L. Nelson

Robert L. “Buddy” Nelson, 83, of Cherryvale, Kansas passed away Sunday, June 20, 2021, at his home with family by his side.
Robert Lee Nelson was born March 22, 1938, in Independence, Kansas the son of Frank “Buck” Mooney and Edith Nelson. He grew up in Cherryvale and graduated from Cherryvale High School in 1957.
On July 4, 1957, in Miami, Oklahoma he was united in marriage to Velma Jeanne Green, and she survives at the home.
Buddy worked for Thomas English Muffins in Anaheim, California and later The Coleman Company in Wichita, Kansas. He retired from the water department for the City of Cherryvale after many years.
He enjoyed hunting and most of all he cherished his family.
Survivors include his wife Jeanne of the home, children, Aaron Nelson and Valarie Nelson of Cherryvale, Kansas, grandchildren, Jessica, Levi, Tyler, Nic, Mariah and great grandchildren, Zane, and Scarlett.
He was preceded in death by his parents, son, Mike Nelson, sister, Cathy Peugh, and brother Sam Mooney.
Cremation has taken place and graveside services will be held 10:00 A.M., Monday, June 28, 2021, at Fairview Cemetery in Cherryvale.
