ROBERT LEE SHELBY

Robert (Bob) Lee Shelby, 69, of Independence Kansas went to meet the Lord on Wednesday, June 16,
2021. Bob passed away
at Ascension St. John Hospital in Bartlesville Oklahoma. Bob was born on July 7, 1951, in Lebanon,
Missouri at Louise G. Wallace Hospital
to Jess Eugene Shelby (Sonny) and Florence May (Davis) Shelby. Bob was the second of eight children He spent memorable first years with his grandfather, Arthur Laverne Davis of rural Lebanon. Bob was
raised and educated in the Springfield Missouri area including Billings, Republic, Clever and Lebanon Missouri. Bob attended a one room school south of Lebanon,
Westport Elementary in Springfield as well as Clever, Republic & Battlefield Elementary schools, Middle School at Pipkin in Springfield, and High School in Billings.

Bob worked several jobs throughout his life, a lot of them working for himself or in business with good friends. He worked on farms, gas stations, salvage yards, paint & bodywork on Foremost milk trucks in Springfield, mechanic at a Chevy dealership in Baxter Springs with his dad Jess, Gardner Denver in Vinita, and McNabb Cole Mine near Catoosa. In 1989 Bob moved to Kansas and established his own
business, Bob's Auto which he managed for 25 years. Bob did a lot of custom building, paint & bodywork on classic cars & trucks.

Bob thoroughly enjoyed and was passionate about NHRA drag racing and building race cars, engines & chassis, did so for years. He loved swap meets, auctions, flea markets and road trips. Bob hunted,
trapped, and fished most of his life. Bob also did a lot of
Custom work, building, bodywork.

Survivors include his Love and Life Companion, Carol McLaughlin of the home. Son Jerald (Bud) W Shelby (Wife Connie) Clever Missouri and Granddaughters #1 Kaci, #2 Kenzy, #3 Kiley. Daughter Cheryl Carter-Ridpath (Husband Matthew) Nixa Missouri and Granddaughters #1 Stephanie (Paul) Gerhard and great grandchildren Gavin, Isaac, Bennett and Claire; #2 Heather Edgar and great grandchildren Carson, Brantley and Zayden; #3 Kayle Edgar and great grandchildren Emmitt, Quade, Ayla and Atlas; #4 Karissa Jordan; #5 Tori Carter; Grandson #6 Trace Carter; Grandchildren from Son Bobby (deceased) Bernice Ok., #1 Madison Dawn Shelby, #2 Sydney Lee Shelby, #3 Hunter Dylan Shelby; Daughter Mindy Dawn Villone (Husband Daniel) Granddaughter #1 Eva May Villone,; Grandson #2 Danny Thomas Villone Jr; Daughter Abigail Renee Shelby, Big Cabin Oklahoma, Grandsons #1 Logan Michael Shelby; #2 Corbin Lee Carpenter; #3 Gabriel Alexander Maldonado Maxim; Extended Family: Colleen Waldner (Husband Benjamin) Independence Kansas and Children #1 Isabella, #2 Katherine, #3 Remington, #4 Scarlette and #5 Aurelia; Deirdre Howard and Daughter Reece of Austin Texas. Siblings: Don Shelby, Wyandotte Ok; Larry Shelby, Prior Ok.; Carolyn Moss (Husband Floyd) Bluejacket Ok.; Nannette Bible
(Husband David) Vinita Ok.: Ricky Shelby (Wife Dana) Adair Ok.

Bob also survived by Stepparents, several Stepbrothers and Sisters, and numerous Nieces and Nephews as well as other extended family members.

Bob was preceded in death by Grandparents Arthur Laverne and Mollie Shelby, Parents Jess (Sonny) and Mother Florence Mae Shelby Phipps, Brother Jackie Shelby, and a Son Bobby Gene Shelby.

Funeral Services are scheduled for Saturday, July 10, 2021, at 11:00 am at the Wickham Family Funeral Home, 216 E. 4th Street, Cherryvale Kansas. Interment will follow at the Fairview Cemetery, North Olive Street, in Cherryvale. Reverend Tom Bevard of Iola, Director of Freedom Ministries of Kansas will officiate. Son, Jerald (Bud) W. Shelby will present the Eulogy.
